Perfect Combos – Beary Happy Birthday!
Hello Everyone,
It is Zsofi here, welcome to another edition of my Perfect Combos series. I always find it difficult to create masculine cards so I brought you an idea using the little bear die from the Heffy Doodle Mini Die Cutting Machine freebies mixed with other stamps and dies. Let’s dive in the details!
I started with the background: on a piece of watercolour paper I put a few tiny drops of Nuvo Shimmer Powder and spritzed it with water generously. I was very impatient to let it dry on its own so I helped it with my heat tool. When it was completely dry I used the new Mini Essentials die set and cut the biggest rectangle.
While I was at die cutting I also cut the bear (freebie with the Mini Die Cutting Machine) from white cardstock and applied Gathered Twigs Distress Oxide ink with a brush. I also cut some canopy using the Forest Builder die set from watercolour paper and sponged Black Soot Distress Oxide on them. I added water droplets and also sprinkled it with diluted black ink and white acrylic paint. I just love to have some texture. The tree trunks are cut from black cardstock. I used a Slopey Joes border die to cut the ground from a leftover piece of the watercolour paper and added Hickory Smoke Distress Oxide ink.
I assembled the scene and popped up the bear with the new thick 3D foam tape. It is still quite basic but I needed a birthday card for a friend of mine so I looked for some accessories and found the perfectly matching ones in Happy Snappy Crocs. I quickly coloured the bottle and the glass with Copics, and cut them all out with the coordinating dies.
For the sentiment I used the same stamp set, I really love the playful fonts. I stamped both lines with Catherine Pooler inks. They give such a crisp and bright result!
As a finishing touch I added a few black jewels to the trees and glossy accents to the nose of the bear. I hope you enjoyed today’s Perfect Combo and will check back later for more inspiration.
