Peek-a-boo Bears – Guest Designer Ali

Hi Heffydoodlers!

It’s Ali here and I’m so pleased to be guest posting for Heffy Doodle Stamps today! A little introduction to me – I discovered this wonderful craft of cardmaking a few years ago, just before having my first child, who is now 17! but have really only recently begun (*been brave enough!) to start sharing my cardmaking through Instagram and YouTube .  So, in a sense, I’m a ‘newbie’ which is why I jumped at the chance to support a new, up-and-coming stamp company such as Heffy Doodle Stamps!

Their debut sets, with adorable images and witty sentiments really spoke to my cardmaking style and I have used their Unbearable Without You stamp set (available here) to create this very cute card, dedicated to a dear friend of mine who lives on the other side of Australia! I’m sure I’m not alone having a crafty friend that, due to distance, is missed so much!

I began by stamping my selected images in copic-friendly ink (I use Momento Tuxedo Black) from the Unbearable Without You set & used the coordinating dies and my Big Shot die cutting machine to cut them out. I then used copic markers to colour the images (my favorite greys are C1, C3 & C5, C7). I also used R20 for the bear ears, noses and cheeks with a small dot using a white gel pen for detail. I used various bright copic colours for the crafty accessories. I then positioned and adhered the accessories onto the bears paws (one of the really nifty things I love about many of Heffy Doodle’s dies is that they cut ‘slits’ in the images to allow them to hold accessories! Sooo cute!)

Next I prepared the white base-card layering and adhering a piece of spotted patterned paper (My Favorite Things Itsy Bitsy Polka Dot Pastels) leaving a small white border.  I die-cut 3 stitched Windows (My Favorite Things Die-namics Stitched Triple peek-a-boo Windows) from white card. Mixing-and-matching the sentiments in the set, I stamped them on the lower part of the window panel and then used 3D foam to pop this white panel up on top of the patterned paper. I positioned the Bears in their windows and adhered. Finally I cut 3 clouds (using AveryElle Pierced Clouds Die) from White Cardstock, adhered to the front panel and trimmed the excess. Such a fun card to make!

Thanks for stopping by the Heffydoodle blog today and hope you enjoyed this card as much as I enjoyed crafting with these gorgeous stamps. What an amazing first release and I can’t wait for more! Happy Heffydoodling!
