Make a circular card – filled with Crab Hugs

Hello everyone,

Today I am sharing a circular card – complete with the cutest little crab friend! I love making shaped cards because they always give such a WOW impact – AND they are so easy to make!

For this card, I started with some white 8.5” x 11” cardstock, and used the Balloon Room stencil to add some fun balloon elements. I love overlapping the balloons with ink for a fun effect! I also added a few teeny tiny images like the stars to bring some extra colour to the background.

Next up, I grabbed my stitched circle dies and die cut a section of the card, thinking about where I wanted my elements to go, so it would look interesting. Next, I die cut another circle in the same size, then used my Mini Paper Trimmer with the SCORING BLADE to score a line about 0.5” from the top of the circle, so this could be a hinge to adhere onto the top panel.

Next I used the HUGS letters from the Slimline Quartet die set – I LOVE LOVE LOVE these letters. They are the perfect size for a big HUGS sentiment. I simply used a blending brush to add some ink onto the left over pieces of my white cardstock, then die cut the letters. EASY! I stuck these down using some 3mm deep foam strips.

Next, I wanted some critters, and these little guys from the A Little Shellfish Stamp set are far too adorable – how could I pass on these? I stamped them onto Alcohol Marker Friendly Cardstock and then used my copic markers to colour them in. SO SWEET!

I even added a sentiment using one of the same ink pads – this sentiment makes me smile so much! HA!

I also stuck down the critters using some foam adhesive, for a little dimension. Don’t the little blue stars in the background almost look like air bubbles when you first look at it!? FUN!

The only snag with creating your own shaped cards is inevitably the hassle of trying to find an envelope that fits – however I have recently discovered the magic of making my own with this amazing tool! Check it out! And I even have a few in the store. This little tool gives me the courage to make cards in SOO many different shapes and sizes.

Thanks for joining me today, I’m off to have fun, but be sure to know that I am sending you lots of hugs and hoping you have a CRABULOUS day!
