I Think You Are Lava-ly–Distress Oxide Background
Hello, everyone! Welcome back to Heffy Doodle Stamps! It’s Cassie here, and I hope you had a great weekend, and your week is off to a great start. I’m back to share another card with you today, and I’m using the Geology Rocks set, because I can’t get enough of that cute little volcano!!
I started today’s card by ink blending some Distress Ink onto some Neenah Solar White card stock. Starting at the Bottom I used Worn Lipstick and blended into Wild Honey. I love the way the two colors blended together to get a great orange color in the center! As I applied the Wild Honey I made sure to use a really light hand as I got further to the top so that it looked like it faded to white. thankfully the Distress Oxides are forgiving, so this wasn’t as difficult to do. I squished the ink pads onto a piece of acetate, added some water, and used a clean paintbrush to flick on color after the ink blending was done. You can see over the Distress Ink the color was more faded, but where it was splattered over the white it has more vibrant color. I also took some white paint and splattered that over top.
Next I stamped the volcano with some Copic safe ink so that I could use my Copics to color it in. Once I was done I die cut him out with the coordinating Geology Rocks dies. I also stamped and die cut some of the steam from the set, except for this I heat embossed white embossing powder on vellum. I like the way it looked like steam coming out of the volcano. While I had those supplies out I also heat embossed my sentiment which I mixed and matched from the set, onto some black cardstock and trimmed them down to skinny strips.
I used a stitched border die to create the ground and used my Copics to color it in. Then I started putting my card together! The stripe piece was a left over scrap from another card that really tied the black in. I glued it to the side of the card, and trimmed my Neenah base to leave some room for it. I adhered the base down and addeded the volcano and ground flat to the panel. The sentiment was popped up with foam tape. To finish it off I added some white gel pen details to the volcano as well as some Glossy accents. And then my card was finished!
I hope you enjoyed the card for today. It’s a nice pop of color that I think just about anyone would enjoy. Thank you so much for stopping by, and I hope to see you again soon with another card!
