Hot Air Balloon Slimline Card
Hello Heffy Doodle friends! First of all I want to wish you all a happy, healthy and creative 2023!
I made this slimline card featuring two adorable critters and the fantastic hot air balloon! Let me tell you how this card came together.
I started by die cutting everything for my hot air balloon. I used Bubblegum Blush and Razzleberry as the main colors for the balloon. For the sandbags, I used Chocolate Bar from Lawn Fawn. I took some light brown woodgrain cardstock for the textured basket. The little flags were cut out of Simply Tealicious. I love this color by the way!
I did want to add a little bit of ink blending. So over the woodgrain, I put some Walnut Stain Distress ink. On the edges of the Bubblegum Blush balloon pieces , I blended Pinkfresh in the color Coral Reef.
Then it was time for my background. I trimmed down a piece of Bristol Smooth cardstock to 3,25 by 8,25 inches. I took a cloudy stencil and blended the clouds with Pinkfresh Ocean Breeze ink. I splattered a little bit of white gouache and diluted Evergreen Bough Distress ink on top.
I stamped 2 critters with Versafine Onyx Black ink on Bristol Smooth cardstock (since I was going to be using my Zig watercolor markers). The bear is from the adorable Bed Heads stamp set. The mouse is from the Poppin By stamp set. After coloring them with my Zigs, I die cut them with the coordinating dies and of course, the mini die cutting machine (which is fantastic by the way)!
The Zigs I used are listed below:
- Bear: Oatmeal, Beige, Blender
- Mouse: Light Gray, Gray Brown, , Light Carmine, Blender
I needed a place for my sentiment, so I cut down a piece of Bristol Smooth cardstock again (3,25×4 approximately) and I took out the cloudy hill from the Rolling Hills backdrop. I ink blended a little bit of the same Ocean Breeze on the edge and stamped my sentiment from Flying High as well.
Time to put everything together! I glued down my cloud on the bottom of the card. I popped up the balloon and the critters with foam squares. I decided I didn’t want to center my balloon, so I put it on the right edge and trimmed down any of the excess that was hanging off. Then I put the whole card panel on a Razzleberry card base of 8,5 by 7 inches (folded it at 3.5 inches).
To make it a little bit extra special, I put some glossy accents over the flags on the balloon. This gives it a bit of extra shine.
I really hope you I gave you some fun inspiration. I will be back soon with another Heffy Doodle card.
Love, Jarle x
