Hello from the Otter Side Card
Hello!
Samantha here again as the June Guest Designer for Heffy Doodle and today I’m sharing a card with some of my favorite little critters – otter! My card today uses the super cute Otter Side Stamp Set and Stormy Seas Stencil!
There’s not much I love more than making summer themed cards, so I was ready to create a beach scene for these playful animals! My parents live on a lake in Florida and they have a pair of river otters that play in their backyard, and it’s the CUTEST thing! That was totally my inspiration!
I stamped all of the images from the Otter Side Stamp Set and then fussy cut them out! I colored them in with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers, my favorite go-to medium for coloring!
To create the beach scene, I used Distress Oxide Inks in Blueprint Sketch, Mermaid Lagoon and Salvaged Patina for the water, then used Vintage Photo and Fossilized Amber for the sandy shore. Where the two different colors met on the card is where the crash of the wave happens! I used some white acrylic ink and a large dry brush and tapped the paint along the edge, then splattered some white on top too! LOVE how that looks!
Then I used some Deco Foil Dup Gel and the Stormy Seas Stencil to add actual waves! Once it was dry, but still tacky, I heat set some Opal Foil Transfer Sheets and just LOVE that opaque, pearly look for the tips of the waves!
Lastly, I heat embossed the sentiment in white onto black cardstock, and then cut it into a banner!
I popped it up with foam tape, along with every otter and sprinkled some bright shells along the sand!
I think this came out SO cute, and I hope you like it and it made you smile!
Be sure to check out these and all the products at the Heffy Doodle shop!
Thanks again and enjoy!
