Happy Birthday Croc
Hi everyone, Ali here with a cute (and bright!) birthday card featuring one of the adorable crocs from the Happy Snappy Crocs stamp set.
I began this card by creating the background piece: I lightly misted a piece of Watercolour card with water and using Edicol dyes, I sprinkled very small amounts of yellow and red onto the wet watercolour paper. Edicol dyes are a general non-toxic powdered colouring medium (often used as food colouring). I had the idea for this after seeing the Color Burst powders from Ken Oliver . Edicol dye gives a very similar ‘burst’ effect and the colour intensity is amazing! Brusho Colours would also give a similar effect. I dabbed some areas with a baby wipe if the were too intense/dark and dried it with my heat gun. I stamped the Abstract Background stamp from My Favorite Things on this piece with white hero arts pigment ink and embossed with white embossing powder. Be sure to use a powder tool or anti-static pad before embossing.
I trimmed a green piece of card to fit on the front of the white base-card and then trimmed my background piece to place on top, leaving a thin green boarder. I stamped on the happy croc on smooth white card in Momento tuxedo black ink and coloured with copic markers (YG05, YG 11, YG23, YG25) adding detail with a White Signo gel pen and die cutting with the corresponding die. I stamped the heart, coloured with copics (R27, R29) and fussy-cut. For the sentiment, I stamped it in Versamark ink and white heat embossed on a piece of black card and trimmed to size. I attached the sentiment strip with Kokuyo glue roller and I popped up the happy little croc with some 3-d foam (placing the heart in his hand).
These little crocs just bring a smile to my face and hope they do the same for you! Cardmaking doesn’t get better than this!
Happy Heffydoodling! xx
