Happy Bee-Day Sparkles
Happy Wednesday Darlings, It’s Jo Laverty here with my first ever Heffy Doodle blog post as part of the Design Team. I hope you will enjoy my first design, using the adorable ‘Big Bug Hugs‘ stamp set. I decided to go quite loud and bright on this card!
If you would like to find out how I made this bright, sparkly card, read on for the step-by-step tutorial.
Background Components
For the base layers, I die cut a rectangle shape from a bright pink cardstock followed by a slightly smaller rectangle from white cardstock. Using the ‘Rolling Hills Landscape Die‘ set, I cut two hill layers from white cardstock. From the same die set, I cut out the Sun’s outline and inside shape also from white cardstock.
Ink Blending
- For the background I used the following Distress Oxide colors from bottom to top: Spun Sugar, Kitsch Flamingo, and Pickled Raspberry
- For the hills I used the following Distress Oxide colors from bottom to top: Pine Needles, Lucky Clover, and Twisted Citron
- For the sun I used the following Distress Oxide colours for the circle: Squeezed Lemon and Fossilized Amber. For the Rays I used Carved Pumpkin
Stencils and Heat Embossing
For the background, I used Heffy Doodles ‘Simple Sunburst‘ stencil, and heat embossed WOW! Embossings ‘Candy Floss’. On one of the hill layers, I heat embossed a sentiment from the ‘Big Bug Hugs‘ stamp set using WOW! Embossings ‘Opaque Bright White’.
Images
Using Heffy Doodles ‘Alcohol Friendly Marker Cardstock‘, I stamped and die cut a range of cute images from the ‘Big Bug Hugs‘ stamp set. I used Ohuhu alcohol markers to color in the images and added some glitter glue to help accent some of the elements.
To finish off the card, I used a mixture of double sided tape, thinner foam tape, and thicker foam tape to help give the design some dimension.
I hope you enjoy this card and the step-by-step tutorial. Don’t forget to tag Heffy Doodle in all your HD creations so that we can show them some love. Crafty Hugs, Jo x
