Creating a Cute Valentine Card

Hello crafty friends – Jordy here with my first DT project for the new year! I hope 2024 has started out well for you all. I am trying to be better organised this year by getting ahead with my crafting, so with that in mind, I decided to get a Valentine’s Day card done ready for February. You can read on to see how this one came together or watch the process over on YouTube here:

I began by stamping out the cute little hugging hedgehogs from the Quill You Be Mine Stamp Set and coloured them in with my Ohuhu markers. This was super quick and easy, as I just used one image and kept my coloring pretty basic. After I finished the coloring, I used the coordinating dies to cut out the image ready to use on my card.

Next I worked on my card panel. I took a 5.5″ x 4.25″ piece of Heffy Doodle Bubblegum Blush Cardstock and centred my Fancy Nancy Frame Die on top and ran it through my die cutting machine. This die set is retiring, but if you hurry over to the Heffy Doodle Website you can snap it up now for an absolute bargain!

I used some darker pink ink to ink up the inner edges of the frame then used the same color of ink, watered down slightly, to scatter over. This adds just a bit of interest to an otherwise, relatively simple card. I finished up the card panel with a stamped sentiment from the Quill You Be Mine stamp set.

Next I worked on my card base. Using the Wildside Stencil and some pale pink Ink, I stenciled onto a white 5.5″ x 4.25″ card base, focusing on the area you would be able to see through the window of my card panel. Again, this was just to create a touch of added interest.

To turn my card into a shaker, I secured a piece of Heffy Doodle Extra Thick Acetate behind the card panel and lined it all with Heffy Doodle 3mm Thick Foam Tape. I scattered some Strawberry Milk Sparkle Mix on top of my card base and attached the card panel on top, being sure to keep my sparkle mix behind the shaker window.

All that was left to do, was to glue my little hugging hedgehogs down on top of the acetate and of course give it all a little shake! I just love how this one turned out.

I hope I’ve inspired you to get ahead with some Valentine’s crafts! Thank you so much for joining me and I hope to see you all again next time.
