Chimply The Best Birthday Card

Hi Heffy Doodle friends!

It is a sad day… This is my final blog post for Heffy Doodle. Since Heffy Doodle closed its doors, the Design Team won’t be making any new content. Luckily, all previous posts will remain available for your inspiration. Yaaay!

Since this was my final project, I wanted to take out one of my favorite Heffy Doodle stamp sets: Chimply The Best. I love these cheeky little monkeys.

I started by die cutting a rectangle piece of white cardstock to 4,25 by 5,5 inches. I used Neenah Classic Crest Solar White 80lb for this. I put the Unbeleafable stencil on top of the card and I pounced on Lucky Clover Distress Oxide ink. I love using my Paper Pouncers since the leaves are kind of intricate. Then I removed the stencil and went over the whole panel with Cracked Pistachio and Twisted Citron Oxide ink. Then I splattered on some Perfect Pearls solution and black watercolor. I set this panel aside to dry while I worked on my images.

I stamped my images from the Chimply The Best stamp set onto Transotype Perfect Coloring paper, using Lawn Fawn Jet Black ink. I colored them with Copic markers. I listed all the markers below:

  • Monkey: E57 – E55 – E53
  • Monkey’s face: E53 – E51 – E50
  • Bananas: Y35 – Y15 – Y13 / Y11 for the banana itself
  • Branch: G02 – G00 – G000 / E18 – E15 – E13

When the coloring was done, I die cut the images with the coordinating dies and the Heffy Doodle mini die cutting machine. (By the way, I am SO happy with this machine!!)

To assemble my card, I first adhered my stenciled panel on a white top folded card base. Then I die cut the Storyboard backdrop die out of white cardstock and put that on top of the ‘leafy’ panel. I love that this die leaves a little border. It adds something extra to the card, in my opinion.

Then I arranged my images on the card panel. Of course I had to add a sentiment as well. I went with the ‘It’s your birthday. Go bananas.’ So fun, right? After prepping my black cardstock with an antistatic powder tool, I stamped my sentiment in Versamark ink and sprinkled on some white embossing powder. After that, I heat set it with my heat gun and trimmed my sentiment to size with the Heffy Doodle mini paper trimmer (such a handy tool as well!).

I foam mounted my sentiment and the little monkeys. The little bananas were adhered down flat. This creates extra dimension.

This finishes off my final card. As always, I had so much fun playing with the Heffy Doodle products.

I wanted to say a final THANK YOU to all the Heffy Doodle friends here. THANK YOU for your continuing support. I hope you’ll stay crafty and that you’ll keep using your wonderful Heffy Doodle products.

And THANK YOU to Lesley and the rest of the Heffy Doodle Design Team. I am incredibly grateful to be a part of the Heffy Doodle family. I love you all!

Happy crafting!

Love, Jarle x
