Stencil Ink Blending with die-cuts
Hi, Friends!
This is Caly and I’m thrilled to guest for Heffy Doodle again! I love the Bots of Love stamp set so much and had a lot of fun making this card. I hope you’ll like it as much as I do!
To begin, I stamped and colored my images using Copic markers with a variety of different shades of gray (C00, C0, C1, C3, C6, C8). I added as much color as I could with the rest of the images that I stamped (R20, Y04, Y13, Y38, R05, R14, R24, R29, R39). After coloring, I die-cut the images, added some white gel highlights, and set them aside to work on the background.
Using Wilted Violet Distress Oxide Ink, I ink-blended over the Cogs and Code 2 in 1 stencil to create my cog background on white cardstock. Since it’s a monochromatic look with the bots, I wanted a pop of color and decided to fade into white. I splattered the background with some watered-down acrylic white paint and spritzed it with some iridescent white shimmer spray.
To highlight the images and to somewhat mute the background, I decided to cut a circle to frame the images. Heffy Doodle has a beautiful set of Stitched Circle Dies in many different sizes. I used a smaller stitched circle die set that I already have and used my images to fill the circle panel before adhering it to the card layer using foam adhesive. I wasn’t sure if I wanted it to be top or bottom heavy with the cogs, but ultimately decided to place the purple at the bottom of the card.
