Black & Gold Christmas Shaker Card

Hi sweet friends!

This is Jarle and I’m so happy to be back on the blog with a new card in my ‘Sweet Scenes’ series for Heffy Doodle!

For today’s card, I chose a very minimalistic design with limited colors. I always love black and gold together, so I wanted to do something with those. I thought a Christmas card wouldn’t hurt. I still need to make tons! Let me explain how this card came together.

I started by die cutting a rectangle with the Deckled Paper Hugs dies and Oreo Crush cardstock. I went with the second to largest die from that set.

Then I decided to splatter on some gold paint (it’s from Finetec). I let it dry completely before going any further.

After that, I chose 2 of the 3 trees from the Stitched Triangle Tree dies. I positioned the largest one in the middle of my rectangle and put it through my die cutting machine. I did the same with the smaller tree. Left and right are actually the same dies.

I love that stitching detail on the outside edge!

Then I took a piece of acetate and adhered it on the back of the black panel with sturdy double sided tape. To create my well for my sequins, I used the Heffy Doodle Foam strips. I just made a rectangle ‘well’ with foam strips, but didn’t bother to create 3 separate wells. I removed the liner paper and poured in the Starry Night sequins. I love that blue and gold mix!

I closed everything with a light blue cardstock. It doesn’t matter that much which color of cardstock you choose if you use lots of sequins.

I took the lovely Merry Christmas Jumbo Sentiment dies and die cut it out of gold cardstock. I glued it under the 3 trees with liquid glue.

To finish it off, I adhered my panel on navy cardstock (Huckleberry). This was a super simple card to make, but I love how it turned out. I love the black and the gold. I love that it shakes. And I love that the colors are slightly different than what I would normally use.

Thank you so much for being here! I hope you have a great day!

Love, Jarle x
