Best in the Mewniverse – Galaxy Background Card

To create today’s card, I started off by making a watercolour galaxy background (if you’ve never tried this, you totally should! This technique is basically fool-proof!) I then stamped a bunch of kitties on my background using my Versamark embossing ink and covered them with some liquid platinum embossing powder. I did two kitties at a time in order to avoid overlapping them. Then I filled up the smaller gaps left between them by stamping and embossing the little wool ball included in the set. I loved the look of the liquid platinum kitties against my galaxy background. They looked like kitty constellations!

Next up, I die cut a couple of our new word dies “Hey” and “Baby” from some plain, white card stock (by the way, did you know that Lesley herself actually hand-lettered all the word dies in our latest release? How cool is that!) I stacked them on top of each other and pressed them against my Versamark ink pad. Once they were fully covered with this sticky ink, I added a thick layer of that same liquid platinum embossing powder and hit them with my heat tool. I repeated the process a couple of times to give my stacked, die-cut words a nice metallic look.

I then stamped out my sentiment “You’re the best in the whole mewniverse” from the same stamp set on to some plain white card stock. I stamped the first part of the sentiment in black and heat embossed the second half with the same liquid platinum embossing powder. I cut out my sentiment strip with the fabulous “Stitched Strips of Ease” dies and adhered it flat on to my card front. I could then move on to the colouring. I coloured my kitty and basket with my Copics and fussy cut them out leaving that magical little white border that makes them look like die cuts. I used some double sided foam squares to adhere them on to my card and… voilà!
