Elephant of Surprise!
Happy Friday, friends! It’s Cassie here, and I hope you all had a good week, and are able to get your craft on this weekend. I know I will be! 🙂 This week has just flown, but I’m hoping the weekend lingers. I’m back here today with another card to share with you all. Today’s card was made because…as usual…I missed a birthday. My cousin’s birthday was last week and I completely missed sending him a card. Hopefully this cutie makes up for it.
I’ve seen this cute trifold design on Instagram by @craftawaywithme and I knew I had to give it a go. I started with an 4 1/4 by 11 piece of card stock and scored it at 3.5 inches. Then I folded it and scored it again at 3.5 inches. It didn’t line up 100% so I trimmed the edge that was left. Then I die cut the elephant from Elephant of Surprise from the center of the top two panel making sure to line them up the best I could. I used one of those die cuts to stamp the elephant and color him in with my Copics.
Each panel has a slightly different scene, each with the elephant in the center. I stamped images from Happy Snappy Croc, Beary Big Heart, Elephant of Surprise, and Ad-roar-able Lions for all of the scenes and colored them in with my Copics. That way I could add little things to brighten up each panel. All of the panels were inked with Distress Oxide inks. I masked the two parts of the panel off and did two tones to give the impression of a floor and wall.
The sentiments came from Elephant of Surprise. For the first two panels I stamped them with VersaMark and heat embossed white embossing powder over top. For the last I stamped in black. In hind sight I with I had done white embossing powder for this panel as well, but overall I do like how it turned out. On the front panel I added a word bubble from Whatcha Sayin’ stamps and dies and added the sentiment, “Oh no…I forgot.”
This card was so fun to make! I would definitely try this design again. Alright…admit it. How often do you forget to send birthday cards?? Please say I’m not the only one! 🙂 Thanks so much for stopping by today. I hope you liked the card! I’ll see you again soon with another one!
