Elephant of Surprise — Interactive Dies & Distress Inks

Hello everyone! Welcome back to Heffy Doodle 🙂 It’s Cassie here, and I’m back with a fun card that’s perfect for giving to just about anyone on their birthday. It’s a fun, interesting card, with bright colors that would warm anyone’s heart!

I started by taking a piece of Neenah Solar White card stock that was 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 and die cutting two sizes of the folding interactive dies. These are going to highlight the main interest in my card, and provide some interaction, since the recipent can open and close them. I used a pencil to mark the opening on another piece of Neenah Solar White so that I knew where to add my Distress Oxide Ink. Once I had an idea where the openings would be, I used my ink blenders to add two pops of color for the backgrounds with Picked Raspberry and Wild Honey. I spritzed them with water for some splatter texture and set them aside to dry.

Next I got out the adorable Elephant of Surprise stamp set and got to stamping. I stamped out a couple of the balloons, the cake and the sweet elephant with his hands up in surprise. I colored them all in with my Copic markers, and die cut them with the coordinating Elephant of Surprise dies. Then I arranged them where I wanted them so that they’d pop out of the openings. I adhered them to the card panel and adhered the die cut piece over top.

To finish the card I added my sentiment as I have been doing a lot lately. I stamped it on black cardstock with VersaMark ink and heat embossed it with white embossing powder. I trimmed those down and popped them on my card with some foam tape. And that finished off my card! I hope you enjoyed it!

Thanks so much for stopping by today to take a look at my project. I hope you’re all having a lovely day, and I’ll see you again soon with another card!!

Very cute! What die set did you use to make the openings?
