A Highlands Hello
Happy Friday Darlings! It’s Jo Laverty here with another Heffy Doodle creation. Today I am sharing a card I made using the awesome ‘Highland Honeys‘ stamp set and a little help from Sarah Renae Clarks Color Cube.
Sometimes a tool like the Color Cube can really help to inspire a design of a card, and I am super happy how well the colour palette came together for this creation. If you would like to find out how I made this card, please see below step by step instructions.
Background
Taking a mid-grey cardstock and Heffy’s ‘Stitched Hearts‘ background die, run both through a die cut machine to create your background layer.
Oval Layer
Taking white cardstock and the ‘Ovally Excited‘ die set, using the middle sized die, run both through a die cut machine. Then using the ‘Highland Honeys‘ stamp set, stamp the mountain and ocean waves onto the layer, then re-stamp the mountain onto masking paper. Peel the backing from the masking paper and place onto the stamped image.
Ink Blending and Stencilling
Using Distress Oxide Inks in ‘Frayed Burlap’ and ‘Peeled Paint’, blend colours onto the background. Then taking the ‘Starfall‘ stencil, take some white ink and blend over the pattern.
Coloring
Remove the masking paper and using alcohol markers, colour in your image. Then use a white pen to add in some highlights.
Sentiment
Taking some green cardstock and the ‘Close At Heart‘ sentiment stamp set, heat emboss a sentiment using white embossing powder.
Final Touches
To finish off the card, add some glitter to the Sea, and add some sequins for decoration. I used the ‘Enchanted Moss‘ sparkle mix, as it really suited the color palette.
I hope you enjoy this card and the step-by-step tutorial. Don’t forget to tag Heffy Doodle in all your HD creations so that we can show them some love. Crafty Hugs, Jo x
