Happy Snappy Birthday Card
Hi Heffy Doodle friends!
I’m so happy to be back on the blog with another project in my Sweet Scenes Series for Heffy Doodle!
Today I wanted to showcase an older stamp set: the Happy Snappy Crocs. I mean, how adorable are these?! Why didn’t I use these sooner…?
Also want to mention very quickly: On the website, I saw there is a stamp and die bundle for this set available now, so you might be interested in that one!
I started by die cutting everything I needed for this card. I used an Outside In Stitched Rectangle from Lawn Fawn to die cut 2 panels out of Bristol Smooth cardstock (I wanted a little border around the card to showcase a little bit of pretty patterned paper beneath). That second stitched panel was cut short with the Freshly Cut Grass dies. I also die cut the Build A Pond dies for my little pond out of Heffy Doodle Ice Blast cardstock.
Then I started my ink blending:
The shorter panel was done with Oxides in Antique Linen and Vintage Photo. I also splattered a bit of the Vintage Photo, diluted with water, on the panel.
The main pink panel was done with Oxides in Spun Sugar, Kitsch Flamingo and Picked Raspberry. I splattered on a bit of water as well, for added interest.
I also went over the edges of the pond with Peacock Feathers.
When the ink blending was done, I added every layer on top of each other: so the sand panel on top of the pink panel and the pond on top of the sand. I also die cut a piece of the blue striped Wildflowers patterned paper to A2 size (5,5 by 4,25 inches). I adhered all the card panel layers on top of that pretty paper, which gives the card panel a nice little border all around.
Then I stamped my images from the Happy Snappy Crocs in Versafine Onyx black ink onto Bristol Smooth cardstock.
I chose to use my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers to watercolor these, so below you can find the colors that I used:
- Crocs: Green – Marine Green – Deep Green (Light Carmine for blushy cheeks)
- Wine Bottle: Olive Green – Deep Green / Oatmeal
- Wine Glass: Wine Red / Light Blue
- Bow: Pink – Dark Pink
Tip: Let the images dry for about 5 minutes before moving on to the coloring. This prevents smearing.
Of course I used the coordinating dies and the mini Heffy Doodle die cutting machine to cut out my images.
I foam mounted all my cute images with some foam squares on my card panel.
I chose to divide the sentiment in 3 little sentiment strips. I prepped my black cardstock (Oreo Crush) with an antistatic powder tool and stamped happy, snappy birthday with Versamark ink. I sprinkled on some white embossing powder and heat set it with my heat tool. With the mini paper trimmer, I cut out all 3 of the sentiment strips. I foam mounted them as well, a little bit at an angle.
This finishes off my card for today. Thank you SO much for being with me today. I really appreciate it!
Have a great day! Love, Jarle x
