Sweet Summer – August 2023 Challenge

Hello crafty friend, Amanda Stevens here again, to announce the winner of July’s challenge and issue a new one for August! We’d like to thank everyone who entered the Glitz & Glimmer Challenge last month. There were some really sparkly projects! You can see all of the entries over in the Heffy Doodlers group on Facebook. While you’re there, you can share your projects and meet new crafty friends. I try to share Lesley’s weekly videos there too as soon as she goes live.

I know you’re excited to see who won last month’s challenge, so please help me congratulate Janelle of Janelle’s Sparklecrafthappiness! Isn’t her pink rainbow sky, featuring Fluffy Puffy Unicorns adorable? This is one of several cards she submitted. Check out the album to see her other card!

To choose the winner, all entries (except those by Lesley and the current design team) were assigned a number, in order of posting. We used random.org to choose the winning number.

I don’t know about you, but summer is my favorite season. The warm weather, long sunny days, and no major holidays that I have to prep for, help me feel relaxed. Plus, I don’t have to get up early to take the kids to school. Summertime is sweet!

Do you celebrate your SWEET SUMMER with bright colors, or cool treats? Maybe a day at the beach? I can’t wait to see! To kick off the challenge, I used sorbet colors for a sweet thank you card. Take a look…

This card is quick and easy to create with a stenciled background and jumbo sentiment. Add a pair of colored focal images and a sub-sentiment to pull it together. For shimmer, add a smattering of sparkle mix pieces. Think of it as a template… If you change the sentiment and focal images, you’ll have a completely different card. “Jump for joy” with a pair of frogs, “let’s party” with birthday critters, “happy new baby” with zoo animals. You get the idea 🙂

Inspired to play along? Pull out your Heffy Doodle goodies and create a SWEET SUMMER card of your own. To enter, go to the Heffy Doodlers Facebook Group and post a picture of your project in the August 2023 Challenge album (it will be pinned to the top). Enter as many cards as you like. The winner will be randomly chosen from all entries posted prior to Midnight (UT) on September 3, 2023. You are not limited to cards, feel free to post tags, scrapbook pages, home decor projects, etc. Just be sure the bulk of the stamps and dies used are from Heffy Doodle, and you incorporate the SWEET SUMMER theme.
