High in the Sky for a cute friendship card

Hi sweet friends!

I’m here with another card in my ‘Sweet Scenes’ series for Heffy Doodle. I couldn’t resist using the fantastic new Sky High Cloud backdrop again… I paired it with the older ‘Flying High‘ stamp set and I’m just in love with this card!

I started by die cutting the new backdrop ‘Sky High Cloud‘ out of Bristol Smooth cardstock. I did want to change the shape of my card, so I die cut that Sky High background panel with the second largest die out of the Stitched Rounded Imperial Rectangles set.

When that was done, I took out my beloved Distress Oxides in the colors Dried Marigold, Worn Lipstick, Picked Raspberry and Seedless Preserves to give color to the sky.

If you ever have trouble with your ink blending, try these tips:

• Use Bristol Smooth cardstock. This is my go to paper for ink blending!
• Make sure you have enough ink on your panel when blending.
• Overlap the 2 colors you are ink blending.
• Go back and forth between the different colors. I sometimes go over everything 4 to 5 times to get a seemless blend.

I die cut the same Stitched Rounded Imperial Rectangle dies out of plain white cardstock. I adhered the blended panel on the white panel with liquid glue.

I stamped my images from the Flying High set on alcohol marker friendly paper with Lawn Fawn Jet Black ink. I colored my images with a few Copic colors that matched my background. I listed them below for you:

• Yellows: Y15 – Y13 – Y11
• Purples: V04 – V01 – V000
• Banner & body of the birds: E000 – E0000
• Blush: R22 – R30

The cute images were cut out with the coordinating dies and the mini die cutting machine. I popped them on the panel with a few foam squares.

I decided to ink blend a few of the clouds I had left over from die cutting the backdrop. I didn’t take any ‘new’ Dried Marigold color. I just took what was left on my blending brush and put that on all of the clouds. These were popped up with foam squares as well.

I took out a standard card base and folded it at 5,5 inches. I put the same Stitched Imperial Rounded Rectangle Die on top, overhanging the die a bit at the fold. I took a picture so you could understand better:

The whole panel was adhered on the shaped card base with dry adhesive. I am super duper happy with how it turned out. I love the colors and the simplicity. That Sky High Cloud backdrop is my new favorite I think!
