Nutty and I love it!
Hello there, Carrie Rhoades here. I always love being back on the Heffy Doodle blog sharing my creations with you. Today I am playing with ink, stamps, flock, and dies to make a fun card. And there is a video so you can watch this card come together.
I wanted to make my own backgrounds for the sky and to die cut the tree from. So I pulled out some sprays. I did some ink smooshing with Salty Ocean Distress Oxide Spray, sprayed on to my glass mat with a bit of water sprayed on it, and just dipped my paper right in. This sky background is actually the second piece of paper I used to pick up the ink that was left over after inking up the first piece. I did the same with the tree. Once the ink was dry on the tree I added a layer of ink by dragging an ink pad over the top. You can see how it all happened in the video below.
Did you notice the fuzzy elements on this card? I added some flock to my die cuts to give them a nice soft look. I love elements like this on a card, something that the recipient wants to touch to see how it was done.
The story behind this card was inspired by my dog, Toby, who is tormented by the squirrels who run around our backyard, but as soon as he gets outside they are gone. So I thought what if the dog and the squirrel became friends?
I added some acorns inside the flap of the tree. By the way this tree die set is the Treemendous die set and it has two optional flaps you can add to the die cut tree. It’s a fabulous die set! Along with the acorns I added a dog bone all wrapped up, it’s a gift from the squirrel to his friend the dog.
And on the tree the dog and the squirrel have left their paw prints, it’s what furry BFF’s do.
Adding in little details like the paws on the tree, the tiny stamped hearts, the sentiment as a thought/talk bubble, these are the things that make hand made cards so special. I hope you will have time today to make a card that makes someone feel special.
Thanks for stopping by and Happy Stamping,
Carrie
