Happy New Year Slimline Pull Tab Card
Hello friends! This is Megan and I am back on the Heffy Doodle Blog today to share an interactive card with you that has a fun twist. Come along with me to see what I mean!
I created this slimline card design using the Slimline Pull Tab Dies. Most of the time when you make a pull tab card, the image attached to the mechanism slides in the same direction that you pull towards. That happens here also, but there is an image that rises up too.
When you pull the pull tab, the seal slides down. As the seal lands in the sea, water splashes back up. (How cool is that?!) To make this happen, I combined the Slimline Pull Tab Dies with a die set from My Favorite Things called Double Slider Loop Slots Die-namics. (They have a great video on YouTube showing how to use this die set that I will link here.) I used two strips of acetate attached with glue dots to the front and back of the slider loop to give the seal and water splash height so that they would have plenty of clearance over the waterline.
To begin making this card, I stamped images from Sealy Friends, You Go, Gull, Happy Snappy Crocs, Big Bug Hugs, Hot Diggity Dog, and Fluffy Puffy Unicorn Stamp Sets onto Alcohol Marker Friendly Cardstock using a dark brown hybrid ink. I then colored the images using Copic Markers. For the sentiment from Whatcha Sayin’, I stamped the speech bubble and wording onto vellum and heat embossed the image using white embossing powder. I then die cut all of the images using the coordinating dies.
For the scene elements, I die cut several pieces of Bristol Smooth Cardstock using the Stitched SlimlineTrio Dies and the Stitched Slopey Joes Border Dies and the Breaking Waves Border Dies. I then masked off the edges of each piece using Memo Tape and ink blended the panels using Distress Oxide Inks. For the sandy portion and pull tab, I used Antique Linen, Vintage Photo, and Gathered Twigs Distress Oxide Inks. I then splattered the pieces using diluted Gathered Twigs and Copic White to add texture. For the ocean, I used Peacock Feathers and Mermaid Lagoon. Lastly, for the sky, I used Peacock Feather, Blue Print Sketch, Chipped Sapphire, and Black Soot. Then I added stars using a white gel pen by drawing dots and crossed lines.
To finish off the card and attach the images, I used a combination of foam tape, glue dots, and liquid glue. I then attached the main panel to a piece of teal cardstock.
Thank you so much for visiting the Heffy Doodle Blog today! I hope that you enjoyed my card design and that you have a wonderful day! Bye!
