Color Snapshot Celebration with Davina

Hello crafty friends! Davina here on the blog with fall themed birthday card, using the November Color Snapshot. It’s one week before Thanksgiving here in the States, so I wanted to make sure that I dedicated at least one more post to the glorious colors and moods experienced during the fall season.

I’ve never made as many fall themed and/or colored projects as I have this year. I’ve really embraced the mustards and oranges more than I ever thought possible. I quickly made this card with ease, because I didn’t have to brainstorm about color choices and themes. I knew it was going to be a birthday card, and I knew what colors I was going to use. That’s half my battle won! I had this bold orange patterned paper already mounted on a coral/red panel. I was going to use it for another card last week, but I colored too many images and had to create a slimline. Not wanting to waste it (I’m a paper hoarder) I pulled it out of my “scraps” box, along with more of the red cardstock for some trees.

Using the Forest Builder Dies, I cut out two of the trees and trunks from red and brown cardstock scraps. I wanted more dimension on them since I planned a simple card, so I inkblended an ombré effect onto the trees using Festive Berries, Ripe Persimmon, and Gathered Twigs Distress Oxide Inks. This combination matched my base panel perfectly, and brought in the reds from the Color Snapshot.

Next, I stamped some images from the adorable  Quill you be mine stamp set, and quickly colored them with copic markers. I cut out the images using the new Mini Die Cutting Machine, and some Heffy memo tape. I always add my highlights after die cutting to reduce the chance of smearing, then I glued my little accessories together.

I wanted a little bling in the upper area, so I used the Celebrate Heffy Cuts and some chunky gold glitter cardstock to create a little Wow! I centered my images on the small creamy panel, and finished it off with a sprinkling of sparkling sequins. Thank you so much for dropping by,

Davina
