Miss You Munchies

Happy Tuesday, Crafters!

Thanks for stopping by the Heffy Doodle blog today.

As we’re gearing up for a fantastic Thanksgiving here in the states, food is on everyone’s mind, to be sure! So today I created this card that was inspired by one of my all time favorite activities: Snacking.

I started out by stamping the bear image from the Unbearable Without You stamp set (HFD|SSS) with Hero Arts intense black ink because I knew I wanted to use my copic markers. I chose some brown shades and colored in my bear. I then stamped the thought bubble image from the stamp set along with the jar of snacks before coloring those in with some light blue shades of copic markers. I added some white colored pencil highlights to my bear to give added dimension.

For the background of this card, I decided touse a panel that I made a long time ago using the Echo Park Diagonal Buffalo Plaid stencil and my Distress Oxide inks.

I die cut my panel that had my bear dreaming of snacks on it with the My Favorite Things Cross Stitch rectangle die and placed it on my background without glue, just to see how it would look. I felt like the small panel with the bear on it was getting a little washed out against that colorful background, so I went ahead and die cut 4 or 5 more blank white panels using the same cross stitch die. I glued them all together and then finally glued my bear panel on the top. That added dimension really helped to give some needed separation between the background and the bear image panel. I finished off the card by adhering the background to a standard A2 card base (4.25 x 5.5 inches).

Thank you so much for stopping by today, and have a Happy Thanksgiving!
