Corgi Tea Party

Scene-building with colored die-cuts

Hello, crafty friends!

It’s Marie Nicole here as a guest for Heffy Doodle! I am so excited to be able to create and share this card that I created with the OH CRUMBS stamp set!

I think all of the recent releases are amazing, but this one really caught my eye. It is full of fun images of tea party items and features several adorable little corgis! I couldn’t choose a favorite, so I decided to use pretty much every image from this stamp set to create a wild and crazy corgi party!

I started by loading up my Misti with all of the images from the set, and then stamping them onto some watercolor paper. I used my Versafine Black ink for this, since it will not smear or run with watercolors, which is what I planned to use to color these images.

I did my watercoloring with my Zig markers. The way I like to color with these is to add a little color to the images, and then blending it out with a water brush. I kept the shading super simple on these images but just adding some shading around the edges. This gives dimension without having to guess where the light and shadows are.

With all my images colored in, I used the coordinating dies to cut them all out. Can I just profess my love for coordinating dies here? It’s so amazing to be able to cut all of these cute stamps out with one pass of my die cutting machine instead of fussy cutting each one individually!

Anyway, with my images die cut, I started on creating a background.

I definitely wanted my corgis to be the center of attention, so I created a simple background with ink blending. I taped off the bottom portion of the card while I added some color to the top with my Surface Inks. I also added some playful polka dots using a stencil.

Then, I moved my tape up to mask off the area that I just ink blended. Then, I added some light ink to the bottom of the background. This way, you get a defined line between the top and bottom, and you are able to ink blend a background using several different colors.

I then went ahead and arranged all the cute images over my background, and adhered them down with both liquid glue, and foam adhesive. I popped up two of the corgis on foam so they would stand out a little (although, that corgi bottom didn’t really need much help standing out, did it?).

Last, but not least, I stamped out that super punny sentiment, again using my Misti and my Versafine black ink.

I cannot get over how adorable these corgis are! Each one seems to have its own personality, and they are definitely enjoying this tea party!

Thanks for stopping by today! I hope you love these corgis as much as I do! Be sure to check out the OH CRUMBS stamp set in the Heffy Doodle store if you havent already!

I also have a video on my YOUTUBE CHANNEL showing the whole creative process behind this card if you are interested in checking that out.

Happy Crafting!
