Congrats!

Hi, everybody! Welcome back to the Heffy Doodle blog! Have you gotten over the excitement of Heffy Doodle’s first birthday and the awesome blog hop we had yesterday?? I know I haven’t! It got me right into the crafty mood, and I whipped up this card for today’s post. So many of the ladies in the hop yesterday used the Wingman set, I knew I needed to break it out and get inky 🙂

I started today’s card with one of my fave background masking techniques. I simply used washi tape to create a striped Distress Oxide background. I used Worn Lipstick, Carved Pumpkin and Squeezed Lemonade. Before I took of the tape I spritzed the paper with my Distress Sprayer. I set that aside to dry while I worked on the rest of my card.

Next I took the balloon stamp from Party Palooza and stamped it with VersaMark onto some Vellum. Then I used gold embossing powder to emboss them. Each one was die cut with the coordinating die and I attached a gold string with some tiny stripes of adhesive tape. Then I got the rest of my stamping and die cutting out of the way. I stamped the cute parrot from Wingman and colored him in with my copics. I also stamped and heat embossed a small Strips of Ease with part of one of the Everyday Sentiment Duos. To achieve this I simply masked off the top part of the stamp and only inked up the bottom. Using my Misti it made this super easy to do! I also die cut four Congrats  dies from black paper and one from white. The white one I ink blended some Picked Raspberry and Worn Lipstick Distress Ink over, and glued them all together.

I adhered all of the vellum balloons down by carefully applying glue to where the embossing was. Then I twisted all of the strings together and taped them down where I was going to put the parrot. The parrot was popped up with foam tape. I adhered the Congrats die with a strong liquid glue so that it would be sure to stay in place even over the uneven surface of the balloons. The strip was put on with foam tape to keep some dimension.

And that’s it for my card today! I added a couple white gel pen accents, like usual, but it was pretty much complete at this point. Thanks so much for stopping by today, and I’ll see you again soon with another card!
